Since 1976, the Legendary series has introduced one blanket a year. And each year, one is retired. The White Buffalo Calf Woman blanket was taken off the market in 1996. And it's now enjoying a secondary market life selling for about $1,000 for non-numbered blankets. Pendleton produced a Limited Edition run (1 to 300) on the first production of each Legendary Collection blanket.
The legend of the WHITE BUFFALO CALF WOMAN in 1995 describes a Lakota story of a Holy Person who brought hope, sustenance and spiritual teachings to a tribe who lacked these qualities. The Holy Person (Ptesan-Wi, meaning White Buffalo Calf Woman) gave the tribe the true meaning of how to live in a respectful manner. The horizontally designed blanket offers great detail to honor the White Buffalo Calf Woman by placing her in the middle. She is surrounded by buffalo and a hunting scene of horsemen riding Pinto and Appaloosa horses. Symbolically, in the center of the herd is the White Buffalo Calf, with her human personification above.
ASKING $500 but will consider respectful offers. Cash & carry from Rockford.
